Coast
Created for a performance by Container at the 2016 Gray Area Festival, Coast is a generative, sound-reactive backdrop for hypnotic left field techno.
Over the course of the show, tiny symmetrical automatas appear as metallic chromas in a pristine sky. Bouncing to the music, they slowly grow and take over the whole space, as insistent and percussive as the music they emerged from.
The Gray Area Festival comprises a conference, performances, workshops, and an exhibition that celebrates forward-looking art and technology in civic, educational, and aesthetic practice. The 2016 festival took place at the Gray Area Grand Theater in San Francisco, California.
